Educreations Example

Katy Floyd and I created an Educreations presentation for CI 3750 highlighting what we thought were the best features of the app, iWrite Words.  In the app, students are able to trace letters in order to spell out words.  There are also features allowing students to practice basic letters, words, and numbers. The biggest reason we loved this app was the way it gave step by step instructions on how each letter or number is made up, for example showing how to write 'b', a student would first draw the stick and then make the semi circle at the bottom creating the 'b'.  We think educreations is a great app to walk students through using an app or new concept and can be used in many different ways in the classroom.

CI 2300 Designing and Constructing  Media  Project

In CI 2300, Teaching and Learning in the Digital Age, we completed a design project where we constructed  a web-based interdisciplinary lesson with three self-made media activities including a video hook, a SMARTBoard activity, and a mobile learning activity.  For my project, I did a lesson for kindergarteners teaching them more about letters and phonemic awareness.  The theme of my lesson was nature. I had students create a nature journal where they would find things for each letter, use an app called Articulation Station, and then complete a SmartBoard lesson.
